Traffic was a real bear

MONTROSE, Calif. (AP) - September 10, 2012

But this time it was a real bear that caused the traffic problems.

Authorities had to shut down the 210 Freeway north of downtown yesterday morning after a bear wandered onto the highway.

All lanes in both directions were closed, while a crew from the state Department of Fish and Game was called.

Game wardens followed the bear as it ambled through a nearby residential area and business district.

The animal was surrounded at an intersection and hit with tranquilizer darts.

Officials say the freeway bear will be taken back to Angeles National Forest.
