Officer assaulted during arrest on Roosevelt Blvd.

A man is in custody after police say he assaulted an officer after being stopped on a warrant Tuesday morning in Northeast Philadelphia.

It was around 9:30 a.m. when police stopped the man in the 2900 block of Southampton Road.

While police attempted to apprehend the male he allegedly assaulted an officer.

Police finally got the man subdued and handcuffed along Roosevelt Boulevard near Southampton Road, where they blocked a lane of traffic and took the male into custody.

The 8th district officer suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
