I asked him, "Are you going to keep working?"

"Yup," he replied, "We're gonna stay on the job, keep working the job."

To the question "What do you have to say about these charges?"

Mayor Mack had no reply.

Then I asked the mayor, "What do you want to say to the people of Trenton?"

"I love them," Mack said.

As he entered City Hall, I got in two final questions. "Have you done this? Are you guilty?"

The mayor shook his head no.

Mack left his home earlier this morning but wouldn't comment as he jumped in his car and headed to Hamilton Township for a meeting with his lawyer.

Mack, along with his brother Ralphiel and local cheesesteak shop owner Joseph "Jo Jo" Giorgiani were arrested by the FBI Monday for allegedly accepting thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for helping a fictitious developer who wanted to build a parking garage on this city-owned lot.

"It's just disturbing right now to the city, to not really know what's happening with our maypr and what will be happening," resident Margie Smith said.

"We'll see when things come out, but from knowing him, I wouldn't think this would be something he would have done," the mayor's childhood friend Jonathan Payne said.

While the mayor did not stay long at City Hall, it was business as usual inside.

"Operations are continuing and services are being provided uninterrupted," City Business Administrator Sam Hutchinson said. The council president said she's disappointed in the mayor.

Today she, the business administrator and the police director walked through the West Ward to assure residents despite the mayor's troubles city government is functioning.

"It's important for people to see us or else they just assume everything's falling apart," City Council President Phyllis Holly Ward said.

Mack's lawyer told Action News over the phone he doesn't want to comment on the charges againt Mayor Mack after he's seen and evaluated the evidence against his client.
