N.J. police officer charged with aggravated assault

Authorities say Robbinsville Police Sgt. Mark Lee broke into the woman's apartment at a home that serves people with disabilities.

Prosecutors say Lee assaulted the 45-year-old woman and her son and at one point knocked her from her wheelchair. The 18-year veteran of the department later kicked out a window to escape from a police vehicle before he was recaptured.

Charges against Lee include aggravated assault and official misconduct. Prosecutors say they don't know if he has a lawyer yet. Mayor David Fried says the officer's actions Monday night were totally out of character.
