Pa. man sentenced to 44 months for online threats

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - September 20, 2012

The (Allentown) Morning Call says Wednesday's sentence means another two years in prison for 29-year-old Anthony Elonis of Bethlehem, who was credited for time served since his December 2010 arrest.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence Stengel also ordered three years of supervised release for Elonis, who was convicted of four counts of interstate communication of threats.

Elonis said his remarks about attacks on law enforcement personnel came as his life was falling apart and he was just venting his frustration.

Authorities said he also talked about blowing up a local amusement park and committing a school shooting, but jurors decided that those remarks didn't constitute threats.
