Armed robber sought in 2 Phila. holdups

PHILADEPHIA - September 24, 2012

The first incident happened at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday at the Woodland Supermarket at 5125 Woodland Avenue.

Police say the owner was behind the counter when the suspect approached with a handgun and demanded money.

The owner complied and the suspect left with between $300 and $500, fleeing east on 51st Street towards Paxon.

Then, at 12:50 p.m. Friday, the same suspect entered the Coffee Deli at 238 North 50th Street.

The suspect pointed a black revolver at the business owner and demanded money from the register.

However, the owner began to scream and the suspect fled without any money.

The suspect is described by police as:

Black male 20-25 years-of-age, 5'5", dark-skinned, thin build, 120 lbs, wearing a Light blue hooded sweatshirt with a white t-shirt underneath, tan khaki pants, black and white sneakers. He has tattoos on his neck, the right side of his face, and possibly between his eyes.
