Man sought in long list of SW Philadelphia robberies

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - October 3, 2012

His name is Hakim Benson and investigators say he's held up nine stores since August 30th.

In each case, police say Benson, armed with a gun, carries a money bag and demands the clerk to fill it with cash.

Investigators released the following list of crimes for which Benson is a suspect:

On Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 10:26am, an employee of the Community Mini Market located at 1801 Georges Lane was robbed by a male armed with a brown revolver. The male stated, "You have 40 seconds to put everything in the bag." The suspect fled the scene with $1,130.

On Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 2:50pm, a male armed with a silver and black revolver entered the E&G Food Market located at 6363 Buist Avenue. The suspect pointed the gun at witnesses, took $700 and fled in the store.

On Tuesday September 18, 2012, at 7:55pm, a male entered the Little Caesars Pizza located at 2541 Island Avenue, produced a handgun and announced a robbery. The employee ran to the back of the store and the suspect fled without taking anything.

On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 11:27am, a male entered the Peralta Grocery Store located at 6600 Guyer Avenue, pointed a black revolver at an employee and demanded money. The suspect fled in an unknown direction with $194, a mobile phone and cigarettes.

On Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 2:20pm, a male entered the Woodland Supermarket located at 5125 Woodland Avenue, walked behind the counter and produced a handgun. The male demanded the employee open the cash register and removed an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the store.

On Friday, September 21, 2012, at 12:50pm, a male entered the Coffee Deli located at 238 North 50th Street armed with a black revolver. He pointed the gun at the employee and stated, "open the cash register." The employee began to scream causing the suspect to flee the location without taking anything.

On Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 1:24pm, a male entered the Game Stop located at 1575 North 52nd Street, pointed a revolver at an employee and stated,"give me all the money in the drawer." The suspect took $235 and fled the store.

On Friday, September 28, 2012, at 4:15pm, a male approached the counter of the CVS Pharmacy located at 4849 Market Street, pointed a silver revolver at the employee and stated, "put all your money in the bag." The male took $75 and two cartons of cigarettes before fleeing westbound on Market Street from the scene of the crime.

On Monday, October 1, 2012, at 3:35pm, a male approached an employee behind the counter of the Little Caesars Pizza located at 5901 Lancaster Avenue, produced a black revolver and demanded money. The male took $200 and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
