The crash happened on the Turnpike under the Interstate 195 overpass in Robbinsville.

Authorities say a dump truck going southbound hit the bridge abutment and burst into flames.

The New Jersey State Police say the driver was killed in the crash. That driver's name has not been released.

The NJ Turnpike was shut down in the area for much of the day. However, by 3:30 p.m., one southbound lane and all northbound lanes were reopened in the area of the crash.

The eastbound lanes of I-195 have also reopened. Westbound traffic on I-195 must still get off at Exit 7.

The overpass was not being used by traffic even before the fire, officials said, because it was under construction.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman Tom Feeney says engineers will assess the damage to the overpass.
