Police ID pilot killed in Tinicum Twp. helicopter crash

TINICUM, Pa. - October 17, 2012

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Everbreeze Drive near Uhlerstown Hill Road.

The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. Pennsylvania State Police have identified the pilot as retired Cpl. Doug Brigham. John Dougherty Jr, Bucks County Emergency Coordinator tells Action News that the pilot was a member of fire company that responded to his crash and a member of the Tinicum Township's Department of Emergency Management.

Neighbors tell Action News that the pilot was experienced, and even had a landing pad in his backyard. It was from that landing pad that he took off Wednesday morning.

Shortly after takeoff, neighbors say they heard a "loud bang", and then saw flames shoot up in the wooded area off of Uhlerstown Hill Road.

The wreckage was found on fire on the side of a steep hill.
