Aircraft suspected of causing sonic boom

ABSECON, N.J. (AP) - October 22, 2012

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded weak to moderate shaking across the region on Saturday morning.

Scientists suspect it was caused by an aircraft breaking the sound barrier.

WMGM-TV in Atlantic City contacted the 177th Fighter Wing in Egg Harbor Township. Officials there said that they could not comment as to whether or not the event was caused by one of their aircraft.

No damage was reported.
