One man was found dead and another has been badly burned in a house fire in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell says 35-year-old Jeremy Meerhoff died in the fire reported shortly after 7 a.m. Monday in Sparta Township, about 100 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Another man in the home, whom authorities haven't named, was taken to UPMC Hamot hospital in Erie before he was flown to an unspecified Pittsburgh hospital with burns. His condition was not immediately available Tuesday.

The coroner says the house was owned by Meerhoff's grandfather.

Crews battled the fire for about five hours and have yet to announce its cause.
