The accident happened just before 7:00 a.m. in the area of Brackenville Road and Lancaster Pike.
Police say a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu traveling north on Lancaster Pike ran a red light and struck the school bus, sending the car head-on into a guardrail.
The driver of the Malibu was a 42-year-old female and the passenger was a 56-year-old female, both women were from Wilmington, Delaware.
According to police, the driver was issued a traffic summons for failing to provide proof of insurance and disregarding a red light.
She and the passenger were taken to Christiana Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The bus was on its way to the Calloway School of the Arts and had ten high school students on board at the time of the crash. Fortunately, no students were injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
