Plane fuel pumped into cars at 3 NJ gas stations

HAMILTON, N.J. - December 11, 2012

Several cars stalled on Friday in Mercer County when the stations unknowingly pumped aviation fuel into their tanks.

The affected stations are Lukoil at 2515 Brunswick Pike in Lawrence, Express Fuel at 2482 S. Broad St. in Hamilton, and Lukoil at 1070 White Horse Ave. in Hamilton.

The Lukoil on Brunswick Pike has since re-opened, but the other two stations were still closed as of Tuesday evening.

"It's been since Friday morning that we've been closed, so we're losing money," said George Vasquez of Express Fuel.

Officials from the office of weights and measures are working to figure out who delivered the wrong fuel.

"We get it from different places, so I haven't found out yet," said Vasquez.

Any consumers who believe they mistakenly received jet fuel or aviation gasoline are asked to contact the state office of weights and measures at (732) 815-4840
