City aide says he retrieved gun for mob turncoat

PHILADELPHIA - December 18, 2012

The defense has called Jerry Davis to undermine the prosecution testimony of mob turncoat Lou "Bent Finger" Monacello.

Accused mob boss Joseph "Uncle Joe" Ligambi and six others are on trial in the racketeering case.

Davis, a longtime driver for the city council president, lived next door to Monacello. He says his neighbor hated Ligambi.

Davis says Monacello was out on bail and living elsewhere when he asked him to retrieve a package from his house. It contained a loaded gun.

Davis says he was afraid to pass the gun on to an intermediary. But he says his wife ultimately gave it to Monacello's mother.
