4 charged with trying to sell alleged Hussein guns

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - December 20, 2012

Howard Blumenthal of Fort Lee and Carola Quirola of New Milford face one count each of conspiracy to transport stolen firearms and conspiracy to sell and receive stolen property. The counts carry a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Karlo Christian Sauer of Pittsburgh, Pa., and David Phillip Ryan of Miami face similar charges. Ryan also is charged with unlawful mailing of firearms.

Blumenthal and Quirola made initial appearances in Newark Thursday. It was not known if they had retained attorneys.

The U.S. Attorney's Office claims the quartet sought to find buyers in New Jersey for the seven firearms, believed to be worth up to $350,000.
