PennDOT had to close the left lane of Route 422 westbound approaching the Limerick/Linfield exit due to concrete damage.
Officials say the repair work will be done overnight into Friday, so evening commuters should expect delays.
According to PennDOT officials, the most likely cause of the damage is the excessive heat over the last two days.
