Suspects in Raleigh mother's death captured thanks to Craigslist?

RALEIGH

Melissa Huggins-Jones was found beaten to death on May 14 at her apartment in Raleigh's North Hills community. Her 8-year-old daughter discovered her body.

Ronald Lee Anthony Jr., 23, Travian Devonte Smith, 20, and Sarah Rene Redden, 18, are accused of killing the 30-year-old mother of two.

The trio, who are currently behind bars, may have been caught after posting a stolen laptop on Craigslist, according to search warrants. It's unclear if the laptop was Huggins-Jones' or a neighbors whose apartment was also broken into.

Michael McCollum is the fourth person connected to this case.  He has been charged with possession of stolen goods. McCollum claims he had no idea the laptops were stolen.

"All I knew is that I purchased these laptops. I didn't think they were stolen," he said.

Authorities have said that it appeared there was no connection between Huggins-Jones and the suspects before the crime.

Investigators are still unsure about what was used to kill the mother, but have determined that it was violent.

Huggins-Jones would have turned 31 on May 21. She had just moved to Raleigh two weeks earlier from Cleveland, Tenn. for a new job and a fresh start. Huggins-Jones was originally from Elizabethtown in Bladen County.

The three suspects charged with Huggins-Jones' murder are due in court June 12.
