Sewer plant super acquitted of falsifying records

POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - June 5, 2013

The Republican-Herald says a Schuylkill County jury on Tuesday found 60-year-old David Kraft of Pottsville not guilty of tampering with public records and violating rules and regulations protecting the water supply.

The Greater Pottsville Area Sewer Authority's longtime supervisor said he believed he was doing everything correctly and the DEP inspectors who regularly visited the authority's North Manheim Township plant did not disagree.

The state attorney general's office alleged that in 2009 and 2010, Kraft excluded test results from those he submitted to DEP about chlorine discharges from the plant in order to make it appear they were within the requirements of the plant's permit.
