Appeal denied in eastern Pennsylvania triple murder

EASTON, Pa. (AP) - June 13, 2013

The (Easton) Express-Times says the Pennsylvania Superior Court on Tuesday rejected arguments from 34-year-old Demar Edwards of Newark, who is serving three life terms in the 2007 slayings at an Easton apartment.

Prosecutors said he and another Newark man killed 20-year-old Alphe Rene, 23-year-old Chanel Armour and 19-year-old Aleah Hamlin in retaliation for gang slayings in New Jersey.

Edwards argued that prosecutors presented conflicting evidence about how many people were carrying guns during the slayings.

But the higher court sided with prosecutors who said Edwards could still have been convicted as an accomplice even if evidence had been presented that two other men were the shooters.
