State College hotel clerk beaten with skeleton key

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - June 25, 2013

It happened around 1:50 a.m. Monday at the Hotel State College. Investigators say the suspect was dressed in all black and armed with the key when he repeatedly started hitting the clerk in what police believe may have been an attempted robbery.

The Centre Daily Times reports nothing was missing after the incident and that the foot-long key and mask were left behind. Police are testing them for possible DNA evidence.

The clerk was taken to a hospital for observation after the assault.
