A police officer was injured when his patrol car collided with another vehicle in North Philadelphia Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened around 12:10 p.m. on the 1600 block of West Allegheny Avenue.

Chopper 6 was over the scene shortly after the crash occurred, capturing images of the injured officer being put onto a stretcher and taken to an awaiting ambulance.

The officer was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Another vehicle at the scene, a silver sedan, collided with a utility pole - seemingly a result of the crash with the police cruiser.

The driver of the sedan was not injured.

Police are investigating what led to the crash.
