Small plane crashes into house in central Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - July 25, 2013

A woman who lived in the house in Columbus told Indianapolis television stations that she was home alone and wasn't hurt when the crash happened Thursday morning.

Columbus is about 40 miles south of Indianapolis, and the crash happened about a mile from the city's airport. The resulting fire sent a smoke plume over the city.

Video from television helicopter crews show much of the one-story house was destroyed. No other houses appeared damaged.

Bartholomew County 911 director Ed Reuter says one of the injured people was being transferred to an Indianapolis hospital, but he didn't know details of injuries.
