A strange odor was reported in the loading dock area of the Tropicana Casino, just before 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
Fire crews tracked the smell to a dumpster, where they located chlorine tablets normally used in the pool.
They blocked off part of Pacific Avenue and evacuated the kitchen of a nearby restaurant; casino operations were not affected.
The dumpster is being taken to an open field to clear out all of its contents.
