The Philadelphia School District is utilizing some of its new found money to rehire hundreds of teachers and support staff.

The School Reform Commission met Friday to budget $33 million from new state funding, increased city tax collection and the district's own savings initiative.

Superintendent Dr. William Hite says the goal is to bring back at least 220 secretaries - enough to have one at every school.

Music and fall sports programs will also be restored.

The 76 music teachers originally laid off will be recalled at least through the end of the calendar year.
