One person was critically injured in a five vehicle crash on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The crash happened between the Quakertown and Lansdale exits around 4:40 a.m. Monday.

The wreck, which involved cars and commercial trucks, kept the southbound lanes of the high way closed for about five hours.

Crews worked to clean up both the crash scene and the resulting fuel spill.

The highway was open again around 9:40 a.m.

An investigation into the crash continues.
