Brett Brown is 76ers new coach, Action News confirms

PHILADELPHIA - August 12, 2013

Action News can confirm that the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to terms with former San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown to be the team's new head coach.

The Sixers have not officially announced Brown as their new coach.

Brown was in discussions Friday night with Philadelphia regarding terms and finances, according to Yahoo! Sports. The Sixers have been searching for a coach since Doug Collins resigned in April.

Brown helped lead the Spurs to the NBA Finals last season, where they lost to the Miami Heat in seven games. He, along with new general manager Sam Hinkie, have a major rebuilding project upon them dealing with the 76ers, who failed to make the postseason last year and finished in last place in the Atlantic Division, a year after advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Brown, 52, was a part of three NBA title teams with San Antonio.
