Dogs maul man in Southwest Philadelphia, 1 dog killed

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - August 13, 2013

The attack happened around 2:00 a.m. at Cobbs Creek Parkway and Woodland Avenue.

According to police, the victim was walking home from work when the dogs, two boxers, managed to get under the fence of the used car lot they were guarding and attacked the man.

The man screamed for someone to call 911 and when police arrived, they attempted to get the dogs off the victim.

Officers were forced to shoot both dogs, killing one of them after their attempt at Tasing the dogs failed.

The man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is being treated for dog bites to the face hand and upper arms.

The victim's name has not been released but police told Action News, he is known as the shoe shiner in the neighborhood.
