The shooting happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. in the area of 55th and Christian Streets.
According to authorities, a man in his 40's was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania suffering from three gunshot wounds to the back and multiple gunshot wounds to the arm. He was later pronounced dead.
There is no word of arrests or a motive as police continue to investigate.
