Cable outage isn't an emergency

It's the question you get asked as soon when you dial 911: "what is your emergency?" Key word: emergency.

It's a concept some people in Fairfield, Connecticut apparently didn't understand - and police had to go on Facebook to remind residents that missing a favorite TV show isn't a life-or-death issue.

Fairfield police say they got more than a few 911 calls about a cable TV outage that hit parts of the state last night.

Authorities didn't say how many calls they got - but it was enough for a Facebook reminder that a cable outage is "neither an emergency or a police related concern."

The post goes on to warn that misuse of the 911 system could get you arrested.
