A 2-foot long alligator has been found in a backyard in Maryland.
The reptile was found Saturday snapping at a family's dog in Sykesville.
A relative tells The Carroll County Times the family contacted a wildlife and primate sanctuary, which rehabilitates wild animals.
Handlers from the sanctuary came from a neighboring county and picked the animal up on Monday.
The manager of the facility says the alligator will be rehabilitated and then moved to a rescue program.
An official with a local Humane Society says exotic animals such as alligators are banned in Maryland.
