After ten years at 3rd and Arch streets, The Papery is moving to Center City. And they're selling just about all of their inventory at 70% off.
"We want to start fresh," explains owner Carolyn Brandhorst. "We've been here 10 years. We've accumulated some things. We wanted to clean house. And, you know, it's fun. People buy 70% off. They don't buy 50% off. 70% off, you're getting a deal. You're getting a bargain and it's all quality stuff."
Custom-order invitations are not included in the sale. But just about everything else is.
Brandhorst adds, "We have frames on sale, we have candles on sale, we have leather -- amazing leather albums from Italy. We have thank you cards. We have baby items. We have wrapping paper, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas."
The store's new location will be on Locust Street, between 12th and 13th streets. And the plan is to focus more on the custom invitations, once they make the move.
But shoppers looking for a last-minute gift, will still find plenty to choose from at the new store.
Brandhorst says, "(We are) still going to have all the great cards, wrapping paper, gifts, candles, frames, all that kind of stuff that people love, but really doing what we do best, which is the invitation."
