Traffic-dodging man hit by 2 cars in Gloucester Township, survives

GLOUCESTER TWP., N.J. - September 24, 2013

It happened Tuesday after 8:00 p.m. on the Black Horse Pike at Landing Road in Gloucester Township.

Officers arrived to find Joseph Wilson, 32, of Woodstown-Daretown Road in Pilesgrove, lying injured on the side of the road.

Witnesses told investigators they saw Wilson running in and out of traffic on the road and that he appeared to be trying to jump in front of moving cars.

When Wilson jumped in front of one northbound vehicle he "was struck, lept to his feet and then jumped in front of another vehicle southbound," police said in a statement.

Witnesses said he was hit by the second car, thrown several feet in the air and landed on the side of the road.

Wilson was taken to Cooper University Hospital with injuries police characterized as non-life-threatening.

There was no immediate word if charges would be filed against him.

Neither driver involved in the incident was injured. Neither driver has been charged.
