PHILADELPHIA - October2, 2013

Douglas Diemidio, 50, of South 12th Street in Philadelphia, turned himself in Wednesday.

He is charged with Theft of Services.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said Diemidio tampered with the electric meter inside his home to avoid full payment of his utility bills.

Peco estimates Diemidio stole almost $10,000 worth of electricity over four years.

Diemidio was charged following an investigation by Peco, Police Internal Affairs and the D.A.'s Special Investigations Unit.
