2 critically injured in fiery crash in Mantua, New Jersey

MANTUA, N.J. - October 5, 2013

The crash occurred just before 4:00 a.m. when a driver travelling northbound lost control of a car near the 53 mile marker.

According to police, the victim ran off the shoulder and struck a tree head-on.

The car then flipped around and struck the tree again and burst into flames.

One person was ejected from the car and another victim was trapped inside.

Firefighters and medics worked to free the victim.

Both victims were taken to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition.

Police shut down the inner lane of Route 55 to investigate the crash.
