Police: Philadelphia cop was paid for faked military leave

PHILADELPHIA - October 8, 2013

Officer Louis Fletcher of 9th District was charged on Tuesday.

According to Internal Affairs, Fletcher requested compensation for military leave between January 2012 and March 2013.

Investigators say he was paid nearly $3,800 for time off during that period.

According to Internal Affairs, Fletcher retired from the military in September, 2011 and had no military business during that time.

Fletcher, a five-year-veteran, has been charged with unlawful taking or disposition, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, tampering with records and identification and unsworn falsification to authorities.

Fletcher has been suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
