Pa. Turnpike reopens following trash truck crash in Bensalem

BENSALEM, Pa. - October 16, 2013

The accident happened around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

According to officials, the trash truck went through the tolls at the Route 1 Bensalem Interchange and was on the acceleration ramp to go west on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when it overturned.

As a result of the crash, trash spilled all over the accident site.

Pennsylvania State Police shut down all westbound lanes of the Turnpike for approcimately three hours, forcing traffic off at the Bensalem exit.

The driver of the truck suffered face lacerations and was transported to an area hospital.
