Family displaced in East Oak Lane blaze

PHILADELPHIA - October 18, 2013

The fire broke out just before 2:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of North 70th Avenue.

Fire crews arrived to smoke and flames which spread to the upper floors and attic.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control.

Two family members and a dog were able to escape the burning home safely.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with clothing and housing.

The dog ran off during the fire and Red Paw is working with the family to locate the pet.

No injuries were reported and the blaze remains under investigation.
