The blaze broke out around 11:45 p.m. inside a house containing two apartments on the 100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to heavy flames that quickly went to two alarms.
The fire was placed under control within an hour.
Both apartments were damaged and eight people have been displaced.
There were no injuries reported.
Fire officials say the blaze was accidental.
