Cab driver shot outside North Philadelphia after-hours club

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - December 7, 2013

Shattered glass and bullet holes were among the evidence left behind after a violent morning on the 3400 block of Old York Road.

Around 5:00 a.m. Saturday, a 46-year-old cab driver was waiting outside of QSL, an after-hours club.

There is no signage and the business is located at the end of a driveway which has a gated entrance covered with a tarp.

Investigators say a gunman walked up to the driver, pulled him out of his Lincoln Town Car and fired at him four times.

Police say a nightclub security guard, with a license to carry, jumped into the action and got into a shootout with the suspect as he sped off in the vehicle.

The victim was hit in the cheek and hand and was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

Officers found the abandoned car just a few blocks away near 9th and Venango streets with no sign of the gunman.

The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s, with a stocky build, a full beard and freckles. He was last seen wearing a tan thermal shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPD TIP (773847) or through PhillyPolice.com.
