Their ears must be ringing too

COLTON, Calif. (AP) - December 9, 2013

Three Salvation Army bell ringers have set a new record with 105 consecutive hours of ringing each.

Salvation Army Major "Butch" Soriano did his ringing outside of a Wal-Mart in the San Diego area.

James Brickson of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Andre Thompson of Tyler, Texas, matched him hour-for-hour.

Soriano says his reward is the $2,700 he raised during the ringing marathon.

The old record was 80 hours.

The rules allowed each ringer a five-minute break every hour.

Soriano tells UT San Diego he was a bit tired, but not as tired as he thought he would be.
