Suspects tie up 71-year-old in Southwest Philadelphia home invasion

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - December 11, 2013

It happened around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday along the 6700 block of Trinity Street.

Police say the men, all believed to be in their early 20's, entered through a rear door.

Lt. John Walker says the men asked a 71-year-old male resident for money.

They then they tied him up with plastic ties.

"[The suspects] go up to the second floor of the home. Their son is the army. He's got a couple clothing containers up there. They rummaged through the clothing containers looking for something, we believe possibly guns," Walker said.

The suspect fled with a cell phone.

The victim's wife had left to run errands. When she returned, she found her husband tied up and called police.

Police say no weapons were used during the home invasion.

The victim was not injured.
