Surveillance captured suspected car in Southwest Philadelphia hit-and-run

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - January 8, 2014

Surveillance video obtained from a SEPTA trolley was released Wednesday of the car investigators believe was involved.

The car is described as a mid-90's red two-door sedan with a black soft top and it's missing the wheel cover on the front passenger side.

Police identified the victim as Leslie Smith.

He was trying to cross Island Avenue at Lindbergh Boulevard at 6:15 p.m. Monday when he was hit.

The driver kept going, southbound toward the airport.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
