Delaware officials monitoring roads after snowfall

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - January 22, 2014

State offices and all school districts are closed Wednesday and a driving warning is in effect as hundreds of workers clear roadways. Gov. Jack Markell is asking motorists to stay off the roads to give crews room. Since the snowfall ended early Wednesday, officials say crews have begun work on secondary roads.

Emergency management officials say snowfall totals range from more than 10 inches near Hockessin to more than 5.5 inches in the Dover area and 1 inch in Laurel. The National Weather Service warns that winds will reach 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and temperatures will be below freezing for days.
