Police say the incident happened just after 4:30 a.m. Friday inside a home near Broad and Butler Streets.
The suspect, 36-year-old Rudolph Woodson, was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder and related offenses.
The female victim was stabbed multiple times in the face, head and torso.
Police say the woman fled the home after the attack. Medics found her in the street and rushed her to the hospital in critical condition.
No word on a motive or Woodson's relationship to the victim.
