The accident happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Knights Road and Bunks Ferry Road.
Police tell Action News that the driver of the civilian vehicle may have gone through a red light and struck the officer's vehicle.
The Bensalem police officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lower Bucks County Hospital for treatment.
Police say the K-9 officer was uninjured in the crash.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and did not require treatment.
