The incident happened at 11:53 p.m. along the 2600 block of West Lehigh Avenue.
According to police, a 24-year-old Derrick Moye and his 23-year-old girlfriend were leaving their apartment when a man approached them with a gun.
They say the suspect, later identified as Brown, grabbed the woman's purse and ran off.
Moye then chased the robber down and that's when a second male, identified as Hall, appeared and opened fire, striking the victim in the chest.
Police say the suspects took $300 out of the purse, dropped it and ran off.
Moye was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Approximately 30 minutes after the incident, Brown, Hall, and a third male were spotted between Harold and Huntington streets and taken into custody.
Police are looking to see whether the incident is related to a deadly purse snatching in Northern Liberties.
