Penn State sorority closes following offensive photo

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - February 12, 2014

One of the signs held by Chi Omega sisters said "will mow lawn for weed + beer" and another said "I don't cut grass I smoke it." Some of the women pictured wore fake mustaches.

The sorority was shut down Tuesday. It had been placed on probation in December 2012.

The national organization said its governing council had worked with the local chapter to keep it open but many members "did not adhere to the mandated requirements."

Chi Omega national president Letitia Fulkerson said the chapter was closed because "concerns continue to persist."
