Spencer Hawes feels 'conflicted emotions' after trade, thanks Sixers fans

PHILADELPHIA - February 20, 2014

"It's out of your control, so you've got to make the most out of it going forward," Hawes told Action News outside the Sixers practice facility Thursday afternoon.

While nothing official has come from the Sixers organization, ESPN reports Hawes has been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for two second-round draft picks, center Henry Simms, and backup forward Earl Clark.

"It's obviously conflicted emotions. I've had a great time here. They gave me a wonderful opportunity coming out here to really grow up," Hawes said.

Hawes said he heard about the trade 'first thing in the morning' from his agent.

While Sixers coach Brett Brown would not confirm the Hawes trade, he spoke highly of the player who wore jersey number '00.'

"I think he's a good person and more than capable player. Spencer's been good," Brown said.

Before leaving the parking lot, Hawes reflected on the 2011-2012 playoff run and the Sixers fan.

"Thank you so much for the support. I've had an unbelievable time here, nothing but good things to say about the city, the people here, that's who you miss most," Hawes said.
