Surgery patient stabbed during home invasion in Torresdale

PHILADELPHIA - March 6, 2014

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 9300 block of Walker Street.

The 54-year-old man was sitting in his apartment when two unknown teens entered through an unlocked door.

Police say the victim was stabbed in the hand with a steak knife.

His attackers then ransacked the apartment, stealing his iPad and $50.

The suspects fled the scene and the victim managed to reach for his medical alert device.

He was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The victim described the suspects as two 14-15 year old males, about 5'9" tall, each with a thin build. One of the teens was wearing all dark clothing and the other had a gray hoodie.

There is also a report of a prior burglary at the same location on February 5th where an iPad was stolen. No word if the two incidents are related.

Police continue to investigate.
