The fire broke out around 5:50 a.m. on the 5300 block of Howland Street.
Arriving firefighters found flames shooting from the second floor of a house.
Crews battled the fire for approximately 15 minutes before getting the upper hand.
A man and a woman were able to escape the home uninjured. The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the couple.
Police have detained one man at the scene and are questioning him in regards to the fire.
